September Attribute is COURAGE.

I will stand up for my beliefs and principles and face challenges, fear and difficulty with fortitude.

WHAT IS COURAGE?

Courage is demonstrated by people who stand up for what they believe in their heart to be the right thing to do, even when others don't support them and might try to convince them that they are wrong.

I WILL: continue to do what I know to be right, even when it would be easier to follow another path.

I WILL: ensure that my feeling of “I can” is stronger than my feeling of "I can't".

I WILL: take risks to do the right thing, even when it might challenge the attitudes and behaviour of others.

“Courage is never to let your actions be influenced by your fears.”

What we do

The mandate of the Character Community Foundation of York Region is to promote positive character development throughout York Region - in families, neighbourhoods, school boards, businesses, and local government.

Our goal is to raise awareness and educate the public, private, and non-profit sectors on character development.

The Character Community Foundation practices and promotes a simple but important philosophy: When people and communities embrace living with character, we can change the world we live in for the better.

The Foundation's work is focussed on achieving two objectives:

   1. Education - By providing tools and resources to enhance character development across all sectors of the community

   2. Promotion and Awareness - By promoting the importance of demonstrating good character and to share promising practices across all sectors of the community

The Foundation works in partnership with various members of the York Region communities to host public events and develop promotional materials that promote living, learning, working, and playing with character.
